The Integrative Mammalian Biology initiative in Glasgow benefits from a vibrant, multidisciplinary collaboration between two internationally competitive research institutes: The University of Glasgow and The University of Strathclyde. Since the in vivo capacity award began in 2007, collaborations between these institutes and within subject areas have been created and stregthened. Our in vivo researchers collaborate with cell biologists, mathematicians, medicinal chemists, bioengineers and clinicians, and have fostered collaborations nationally and internationally spanning Europe, the USA, Japan and China. The aim of our in vivo research is to understand the integrated function of mammalian tissue at the level of the whole organism in health and disease with a focus on understanding disease pathology and translating this into new therapies. Our research interests fall into three broad but complimentary areas: Neuroscience, Immunology and Cardiovascular research.
